Athena Leadership is pleased to announce that its second changeleaders conference, presented by the Fairmont Winnipeg, sold out in a record three days. On November 2, 2017, approximately 500 change agents, entrepreneurs, creative leaders and community heavyweights will converge at the Fairmont Winnipeg for changeleaders – a leadership development and networking conference for Manitoba millennials. It is the first and only of its kind in Canada. The conference, doubling as a fundraiser for the Athena Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship Fund and the Butterfly Club at Ka Ni Kanichihk (through United Way Winnipeg), features a diverse group of standout leaders who will deliver tangible learning and dynamic content. They include:
• Feature speaker MaryAnn Kempe (Chief Human Resources Officer, Birchwood Automotive Group),
• Millennials Somboun June (owner of Grace Hill Salon), Christa Guenther (owner of Feast Café
Bistro), and Daniel Mach (engineer with the City of Winnipeg), each delivering a short format address
on their extraordinary stories,
• Paul Soubry (Chief Executive Officer of NFI Group / New Flyer Industries) and Mark Chipman
(Executive Chairman & Governor, True North Sports & Entertainment and Winnipeg Jets Hockey
Club), who will participate in their first-ever public fireside chat, moderated by Candace Hodgins
(Vice President of Finance, Birchwood Automotive Group), and
• Keynote speaker Kelsey Ramsden, named Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneur, also ranked #1 by
Profit and Chatelaine Magazines in 2012 & 2013.
changeleaders will welcome His Worship Mayor Brian Bowman to bring welcome remarks and will also feature local radio celebrity Chrissy Troy of 103.1 Virgin Radio as emcee. Attendees are offered a tech-
forward experience through the changeleaders mobile app, with live polling during speaker sessions and interactivity that offers connection with peers during and after the event.

“This year, changeleaders builds on insights gained from our inaugural event while continuing to deliver
tangible leadership development opportunities,” stated Ashley-Anne Schmidt, Event Chair for changeleaders
and Director of Funding on the Athena Leadership Board of Directors. “We evolved content to strongly align
with millennial career trends and directly respond to questions most commonly asked by this cohort. We’re
proud to continue delivering learning opportunities, while supporting our community on a greater scale.”
changeleaders is 100% volunteer planned and executed by Athena Leadership. Its inaugural event in 2016
sold out in five business days, raising $20,000 for the Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship Fund and donating
$5,000 to Ka Ni Kanichihk through United Way Winnipeg. The 2017 conference currently offers a ticket
waitlist, which can be subscribed to here.
