If you are a fan of The Bachelorette (who isn’t?!) then you’ll love this week’s Coffee & Conversation with season 5 Bachelorette, Jillian Harris! This hilarious Canadian bombshell is taking the world by storm one interior design job at a time. She is a host on Love It or List It Vancouver and Extreme Makeover Home Edition and recently launched Charlie Ford Vintage, an online store for one-of-a-kind pieces from the past. Sounds like a lot of work, right? This woman does it with joy, gratitude and whole lot of laughs.
LWTL: If you could trade places with anyone for one day who would it be and why?
JH: I actually thought long and hard about this one and trading places with anyone ‘more fortunate’ than me seemed selfish – if i had to trade places with someone for a day it would be someone less fortunate or someone struggling. I feel very blessed and at this point in my life couldn’t ask for anything different or more – so I’d like to trade places with someone who could have a warm bed to sleep in & a fridge full of food.
LWTL: Name a woman who inspires you and tell us why?
JH: I have many, my mom, my granny, my cousin Tori… but this time I’d like to shout out to my assistant, Dana. She is extremely talented, level-headed and grounded. My biggest flaw is that I take on too much and she is very self aware and clear about what is too much. I think that is an incredible quality these days. It has taught me to respect my own boundaries and learn to say no more.
LWTL: What was the last book you read?
JH: Sad but true – the 50 Shades series!
LWTL: If you could tell your 16 year-old self something what would it be?
JH: Money isn’t everything, travel more, sleep in more, say no more and be a little bit more lazy.
LWTL: Virtue & Vice?
JH: My cell phone.
LWTL: What song is playing while you’re getting ready for a night out on the town?
JH: Ellie Goulding – Anything can happen
LWTL: Have you ever been to Vegas? If yes, any juicy stories to share??
JH: Yes and yes but no 😉 Actually I have always been pretty well behaved in Vegas, other than a day at the Ceasars topless pool with the girls – I have managed to stay pretty tame in Sin City!
LWTL: If you could share one piece of advice with other women what would it be?
JH: THINGS don’t make you happier. We think they will but they don’t. Be in the moment. Sleep in, be lazy, go for walks without your phone. Although your instagram photos might be fabulous, it isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. I have learned this a lot in the last year and have started to make little changes to help decrease my workload. I stop and think about what I’m taking on… is it necessary? What would I rather be doing?
LWTL: Fill in the blanks
I am: EXCITED TO TRAVEL TO THE UK NEXT WEEK!
Friends are: LIKE THE FAMILY YOU CHOSE, I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR MY BF’S.
Love is: ALL YOU NEED.
One thing I would change about myself is: TO BE ABLE TO LISTEN MORE.
One thing I love about myself is: MY SENSE OF HUMOUR AND GO-WITH-THE-FLOW ATTITUDE.
