#MentorMonday: Sarah Zaharia
Sarah is an Interactive Digital Media (IDM) business development specialist with over ten years experience. Most recently, Sarah served as Market Access Officer for New Media Manitoba, the provincial agency charged with assisting interactive developers find a market for their products. Currently, she serves as the Communications Strategist for the Office of the Mayor at City of Vancouver.
We asked Sarah:
How and where did you form your most significant contacts? How have these changed over time?
My most significant contacts since moving to Vancouver have been made while volunteering. It was a surprisingly great way to meet people and grow my professional network. From that I ended up working for a company for over a year and have gotten involved in excellent community groups.
The more I got to know the people I volunteered with, the more we realized what we had in common. This has led to dozens of professional introductions and friends. When you can meet people with no agenda, the dynamic is much more open. People were very welcoming and I’m still in touch with many of them.
